North Canton WheelChair Basketball Team

For the past four seasons the North Canton wheelchair basketball team has competed against other high school wheelchair teams. And for four season, the Vikings (a team made up of mostly elementary and middle students playing against older High School students) have never won a game. That all changed after the Vikings traveled to Boardman High School and beat the Spartans in an overtime thriller.

 

Trailing most of the game - Hoover was able to tie the game in the middle of the 4th qtr. The game went into overtime after Braxton Jones (who earlier scored his first career points) missed the go ahead shot at the buzzer. In the final seconds of overtime - 3rd grader Stella Jarvis picked up a loose ball on defense and then passed it ahead to Jones to lead a fast break. Sophomore Zach Rambaud trailed the play and received the pass from Jones and put up the game winning shot just at the buzzer. Players and family celebrated as four years of hard work had finally lead to a victory (and pizza).
